The launch of the ‘Sureth course at the University of Duhok in 2024

For the first time, the universities Salamanca through the Chair of Nineveh and the University of Duhok sign an agreement for the teaching of the modern Assyrian language (Sureth) at the University of Duhok. This is a historic beginning that aims to revive the indigenous language of the Nineveh plains. It is the beginning of a project that aims to become a much-needed field of study. The University of Duhok is in the midst of a fundamental task for a region inhabited by the Assyrians who are the autochthonous inhabitants of the country.

The course will be held under the coordination of Professor Dr. Efrem YILDIZ University of Salamanca.
