Dr. Makho’s scholarly work focuses on:

  • Assyrian history, particularly issues of identity, displacement, diaspora, and historical memory.
  • The history of the Assyrians of Hakkari in Iraq (1933-1988) — he wrote his thesis on this topic.
  • Proposals for Assyrian settlement outside their traditional homelands (for example in Brazil and British Guiana in the 1930s).
  • Local cultural/herbal/traditional crafts and industries, such as pottery, especially in Dergni Village.
